| 1 | pkg. | (10 oz.) miniature marshmallows |
| 1 | cup | peanut butter |
| 6 | ounces | semisweet chocolate chips |
| 1/2 | cup | butter |
| 2 | cups | crisp rice cereal |
| 1 | cup | salted peanuts, optional |
| 2 | Tablespoons | cream or milk |
| 30 | caramels, unwrapped | |
| Frosting: | ||
| 1 | cup | semisweet chocolate chips |
| 1/4 | cup | butter |
| 1/4 | cup | milk |
| 2 | cups | powdered sugar |
| 1 | teaspoon | vanilla extract |
In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the marshmallows, peanut butter, 6 ounces chocolate chips and 1/2 cup butter. Cover and microwave 2-1/2 minutes. Stir until well blended. Add cereal and peanuts; stir until well coated. Spread into a greased 9x13 pan.
In another microwave-safe bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons cream or milk and the unwrapped caramels. Heat and stir until melted and smooth. Pour over the top of the first layer then chill 30 minutes.
For frosting, combine 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup milk in microwave safe bowl. Cover and microwave 1-1/2 minutes; mix well. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. With an electric mixer, beat the frosting until smooth. Spread the frosting over the caramel layer. Cover and chill 2 hours or until firm. Cut into squares.
