Festive 5 minute pie - Fresh Dish Post from Price Chopper

Festive 5 minute pie

November 30th 2018

Store bought ready to-go pies can be a life saver! In fact, Price Chopper will be carrying a variety this holiday season to make dessertas easy as pie. However, sometimes adding a bit of flair or color can make your desserts stand out from amongst the rest.

If you want to wow your guests and are short on time, this brief 5 minute how-to will allow you to add a festive spark!

What you need:

  • Package of Strawberries
  • Package of Raspberries
  • Package of Blackberries

Not a fan of the above? Here are a few suggestions for substitutions: blueberries, cherries —  peaches, plums, apples, pears and apricots will do as well!

What to do:

  • For small fruit (berries and cherries) simply cut in half then place in separate bowls.
  • For large fruit (peaches, plums, apples, pears and apricots) cut into thin slices then place in separate bowls.
  • Now for the fun part— arrange fruit in a pattern around crust, starting with one fruit then moving to another. Repeat pattern until the entire pie crust is covered.
  • Allow to chill so that fruit juices will firm.

If you want to add another festive layer to your dessert, arrange one fruit in the middle, either in a pattern or organic way.
