  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then sour cream and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt: gradually beat into creamed mixture.
  3. Divide dough into three portions. Shape each into a disk: wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until easy to handle.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough to 1/4” thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutters to prevent sticking. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  5. Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until light brown. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Helpful Hint: You can freeze unbaked cookie cutouts on baking sheets until firm. Place in freezer bags. Freeze up to 3 months. No need to thaw. You can bake cookies as directed, adding an extra minute or two to baking time.
  1. Mix all ingredients (confectioners sugar, corn syrup, water and optional flavoring) together on lowest mixer setting.
  2. Mix well for at least one minute.
  3. Color with gel food coloring as desired.
  4. Decorate cookies as desired with icing and fun sprinkles.
