Ice Cream Floats with Homemade Ice Cream Cubes

A fun, easy, and tasty dessert!

  • Chocolate Ice Cream Cubes:
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • a pinch of salt
  •  
  • Orange Vanilla Ice Cream Cubes:
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp Orange extract
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt
  • Orange zest
  •  


  1. Chocolate Ice Cream Cubes:
  2. Combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder and salt straight into a medium sized pot.
  3. Place pot over high heat. Continue to stir while the milk heats and the sugar and cocoa powder dissolves (continual stirring prevents your sugar from burning on the bottom of the pot).
  4. Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a boil, then remove from the heat entirely and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  5. Once the liquid is cooled, pour into ice cube tray.
  6. Freeze in ice cube tray for 4 hours +.
  7. Serve cubes in a glass with cream soda. Top with whipped topping, chocolate shavings or sprinkles. Add a straw and enjoy!
  8. Orange Vanilla Ice Cream Cubes:
  9. Combine milk, heavy cream, sugar, extracts & salt straight into a medium sized pot.
  10. Place pot over high heat. Continue to stir while the milk heats and the sugar dissolves (continual stirring prevents your sugar from burning on the bottom of the pot).
  11. Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a boil, then remove from the heat entirely and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  12. Add orange zest.
  13. Once the liquid is cooled, pour into ice cube tray.
  14. Freeze in ice cube tray for 4 hours +.
  15. Serve cubes in a glass with 7up or Sprite. Top with whipped topping, orange slices or sprinkles. Add a straw and enjoy!
