Price Chopper Supports Stamp Out Hunger’s 30th Anniversary Food Drive

Donating 600,000 Bags to the KCMO effort to Curb Hunger with Harvesters

KANSAS CITY, MO. -- May 9, 2022 -- Price Chopper and Harvesters- The Community Food Network are, once again, working to Stamp Out Hunger in the area, partnering with letter carriers to host a metro-wide food drive Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Area U.S. Postal Service letter carriers will distribute 600,000 bags to area homes this week. Residents are encouraged to fill them with non-perishable food donations which letter carriers will pick up May 14 for Harvesters.

Back after a two-year hiatus, extra giving is highly encouraged now as donations tend to thin heading into the summer months. In 2019, 121,000 pounds of food was collected with more than 1.82 billion pounds of food amassed in the last two decades thanks to the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

“Donations increase by as much as one-third when residents receive a bag to fill. Price Chopper is proud to support this long standing effort by providing our community with extra incentives to give back,” said Casie Broker, Chief Marketing Officer, Price Chopper Enterprises.

The demand for food assistance increased 30 to 40 percent during the pandemic, and while that number is improving, it has not returned to pre-pandemic levels. We are encouraging giving in any capacity Kansas Citians can provide. If needed, area residents may also supply their own bag for donations.
