Warm Drinks for Cold Weather

December 31st 2014

With the temperatures dropping, it’s time to heat up with some warm drinks. A great option is spicing up your store-bought cider. Plus as a bonus, it will make your house smell amazing!

In a saucepan combine the apple cider, orange slices and cinnamon stick. Take a whole apple and insert a few whole cloves into the skin of the apple. Add to pot and heat on stovetop. Can be served as is or you can top off a serving with 2 oz. of your favorite whiskey or rum for adults. For a special serving touch, you can even hollow out apples and use them as cups.

Craving hot chocolate? Try our Cherry Snowplow Hot Chocolate from the latest issue of Gatherings Magazine.

Mix 1 oz. rum and ¾ oz. amaretto in a large mug. Add ½ cup coffee and ½ cup hot chocolate and top with whipped cream. Place a cherry on the top of the whipped cream then drizzle with ¼ oz. B and B Liqueur. Garnish with chocolate shavings and a cinnamon stick.
