- Bake the cake as directed on the box. Cool, then crumble the cake into fine pieces in a bowl.
- Starting with ⅓ of the can, add icing to the cake crumbs until it reaches the movable consistency of play dough.
- Roll the mixture into small balls and place on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet.
- Melt the chocolate or candy melt in the microwave or with a double boiler, stirring frequently. Do not overheat.
- Dip a lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and push it halfway into the center of the cake ball.
- Once all are complete, place the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 15 minutes to firm up.
- Move the cake pops to the refrigerator so you can work a few at a time without them freezing.
- Dip the cake pop straight down into the melted chocolate to completely coat it up to the stick.
- Once covered, remove and gently rotate it sideways over the bowl o allow excess chocolate to drip off.
- Add sprinkles or decoration and place in a holder to harden.
