- Add the yeast to the bowl of a stand mixer. In a saucepan heat the whole milk, water, and butter until very warm (use a thermometer to ensure the mixture is between 120° and 130° degrees). Add the warm milk mixture to the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add 11/2 cups flour, sugar, and salt and combine using the whisk attachment for 2 minutes on medium speed. Add the remaining 1/2 cup flour, change to the dough hook attachment, and mix on medium speed for another 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Preheat the oven to 375°.
- Roll the dough into 12 even-sized balls and place them in a grid in an 8x8-inch baking dish. Cover with a dry, clean kitchen towel in a warm place for 30 minutes. The rolls should double in size.
- Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for 20 minutes.
