When combining your wet and dry ingredients, don’t overmix your batter! This will keep your doughnuts nice and fluffy. Bake until your cake gently springs back - about 8 minutes. Allow to cool before glazing!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

          Directions:

          1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Spray two 6-count donut pans with nonstick baking spray.
          2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips (if using), and baking soda.
          3. In a small bowl, beat together the vanilla, egg, sour cream, milk, and oil.
          4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined.
          5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag or a large zip-close bag with a corner snipped off, and pipe into the donut pans.
          6. Bake until the cake just springs back when gently touched, about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove the donuts from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool.
          7. Let the donuts cool in the pan before glazing.
          8. To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
          9. Dunk the donuts in the glaze to fully coat and place on a wire rack to set, about 5 minutes.
