Bag Your Favorite Book - Fresh Dish Post from Price Chopper

Bag Your Favorite Book

February 13th 2015
“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!” – Dr. Seuss

Just like Dr. Seuss, Price Chopper understands the importance of reading and the wonderful opportunities literacy provides kids in our community. Because reading keeps your mind healthy – just like eating the right foods keeps your body healthy.

Since 2007, Price Chopper has committed to supporting literacy in our schools by offering two great reading incentive programs. We recently wrapped up this school year’s Bag Your Favorite Book Contest. In this contest, students are asked to design a book cover based on a book they’ve read.

This year, we received nearly 9,500 entries from students throughout the Kansas City area. We select one winner per grade kindergarten through eighth grade. Each winner was announced at a special assembly held at their school with the Chompers. They also received a class party plus a $500 check given to their school library.

Fifth Grade Winner Alex from St. James won for her cover of "How to Speak Dragonese" by Cressida Cowell.
